2008-2009 Award Nomination Procedures
Deadline is January 2, 2009
Please indicate which award category below is applicable for each nomination.
An individual may only be nominated for one award per year.
Lifetime Achievement Award -- Nominee must be an Oklahoma educator who is working in a formal or non-formal environmental education setting. Nominee should exhibit a lifetime personal and professional commitment to environmental education that exemplifies the values and mission of OKAEE. This category may not be presented every year.
Presidents Achievement Award -- Nominee must be an Oklahoma educator performing in either a formal or non-formal setting. Nominee should exhibit personal and professional commitment to environmental education and have demonstrated outstanding achievement in the field during the past year.
Classroom Teacher Award -- Nominee must be a certified Oklahoma classroom teacher who incorporates environmental education as a major focus in their curriculum. They should influence students/school/community in environmental education, awareness, knowledge and action.
Outstanding High School or College Student Award -- Nominee must be a student who has been instrumental in implementation of activities or major projects in environmental science/education on their campus or in their community.
Outstanding Organization Award -- Nominee must be an organization or corporation with a demonstrated track record in environmental education. It should be a sponsor of major projects and activities in Oklahoma that emphasize sound environmental education and stewardship.
Excellence in Media Award -- Nominee must be an individual, group, program or publication supporting environmental education in Oklahoma through accurate and objective media coverage. All media forms will be considered.
INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING IN YOUR NOMINATION PACKET:
- A letter of nomination and at least one letter of recommendation that address the qualities and impact of the nominee. Be sure to include detailed contact information for yourself and the nominee.
- Photograph of person or group. Photos will not be returned.
- A list of activities and accomplishments. This may be from a resume or curriculum vitae, homepage or other source.
- Inclusion of supporting materials (news releases, examples of work, photographs, websites, videos, testimonials, etc.) is encouraged.
- For Excellence in Media category, you may send copies of the publication or other examples.
- Be sure that all documents include the name of the nominee and please do not forget to indicate the award category from the list above.
